EmDash 1.0 is officially released, announced on the Cloudflare blog along with a plugin registry that is now open. I have already upgraded all my sites, and with it production-ready, 1.0 is what I plan to use for future client projects.
EmDash is free, open source and built on a modern database architecture rather than the older approach WordPress takes. These are the five things I like most.
What is covered
- Sandboxed plugins that cannot touch or crash the rest of your site
- An agent-friendly stack, with MCP support and documentation built for AI tools
- Open source deploys beyond Cloudflare, on Node.js and a VPS, and the tradeoffs such as losing D1
- A flexible block-based UI with custom fields and easy front-end editing
- Confidence in Cloudflare as the company behind it
- Moving my old WordPress agency site to EmDash, and the Cold Compile community
